Juliano Assunção is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica, Rio de Janeiro. Assunção’s research focuses on development economics and applied microeconomics with special focus on Brazil. For his work he has been honored with several awards. These include the 2003 Adriano Romariz prize for the best paper published in the Brazilian Review of Economics and the 2002 I Premio Banco do Brasil – Universidade de Brasília de Economia prize for the best paper published about the Brazilian economy in the previous two years.
